Birth Certificate from German
Birth certificates for children of military personnel of the United States, Canada, Great Britain or for births in military hospitals are only available if the parents have registered the birth with German authorities at the time of birth.
This does not apply to births in Frankfurt! The certificates for Frankfurt can be ordered here.
The same applies if one parent had German citizenship. In such cases, the certificate is also available from other places.
In all other cases, certificates cannot be issued unless the birth is to be subsequently registered by German authorities.

Please note that multilingual documents are only available from about 1915 onwards. Before this period, certificates are only available in German.
If desired, an English translation can be carried out by a sworn translator for a fee (about 83 USD).
If the birth took place before 1915, this birth certificate cannot be ordered at this page because older birth documents are in the German archives.
